Polyethylene-Coated Paper – Durability, Barrier Protection, and Versatility in One Material

What Is Polyethylene-Coated Paper?

PE laminated paper is made by applying a thin polyethylene layer to one or both sides of the base paper. This layer:

  • Acts as a barrier paper – protecting against water, steam, and grease
  • Allows for heat sealing in packaging processes
  • Reinforces the structure – improving resistance to tearing, wrinkling, and deformation
  • Makes the material suitable for demanding industrial and environmental conditions

Such PE-coated paper can be used as packaging material, separator, protective layer, or food-grade paper.

Types of PE Paper Available from Dolpap

To meet different application needs, Dolpap provides polyethylene-coated paper on various base types:

  • Machine-glazed kraft – with enhanced mechanical strength
  • Offset paper – suitable for printing (logos, graphics, instructions)
  • Unbleached kraft – eco-friendly and natural-looking
  • Coated paper – excellent print quality for food and advertising applications

Available colors: white and brown

Coating Types and Paper Grammage

  • Polyethylene coating – from 8 gsm upward, single- or double-sided
  • Silicone coating – optional for anti-adhesive applications
  • Paper grammage (including coating): typically ranges from 60 to 150 gsm

Available formats:

  • Rolls (widths from 15 mm to 1600 mm)
  • Spools
  • Sheets
  • Die-cut formats

Optional: printed layers with technical, branding, or informational content

Applications of PE-Coated Paper

1. Food Industry

  • Food-grade paper – ideal for wrapping butter, cheese, meat, confectionery, and baked goods
  • Barrier paper – protects against grease and moisture

2. Packaging Industry

  • Paper with polyethylene film as a protective layer in multilayer packaging
  • PE laminated paper for bags, sachets, cartons, and moisture-resistant envelopes

3. Construction and Technical Industries

  • Polyethylene-coated paper as a separating, insulating, or protective layer
  • Used as a carrier for coatings, lamination, and sealing

Silicone-Coated Polyethylene Paper – Advanced Applications

Dolpap also offers silicone-coated polyethylene paper, which combines anti-adhesive and protective functions. It is ideal for processes that demand:

  • Perfect surface flatness
  • Dimensional stability (no curling or wrinkling)
  • High mechanical resistance

This type, known as PCK (polyethylene-coated kraft), is commonly used for:

  • Backing for advertising banners (graphic industry)
  • Liners in automotive applications (e.g., vehicle wraps)
  • Separating paper in construction and industrial manufacturing

Coating technologies: solventless and UV
Common grammages: 60–150 gsm
Widths: 15–1600 mm
Color: white
